The girl manning the checkout at the Co-op was eyeing me suspiciously as she rang up my goods.
I was in there early one Sunday morning, stocking up on fruit and vegetables. The amount of fresh produce seemed to be puzzling her.
“You’re buying a lot of fruit and veg, aren’t you?”, she commented. “Most people would rather buy something cheaper, like a ready meal, or a chocolate bar. They won’t pay for it!”
“Don’t worry”, I said, “eating stuff like that, day in, day out, they’ll end up paying for it one day…”
